Bitcoin rises 12% as Elon Musk hints at a shift in his stance on the effects of Bitcoin mining on the environment.
Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX founder, has asked crypto aficionados to contribute suggestions for the development of doge (the cryptocurrency Dogecoin) on GitHub and Reddit through Twitter.
When asked about why he chose doge over Ethereum 2.0, Cardano, Solana, Polkadot, IOTA, and others, Musk said Doge has dogs & memes, whereas the others do not.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin is approaching $40,000 once more, following Musk’s tweet that he had “potentially promising” talks with North American Bitcoin miners about energy-saving measures in the cryptocurrency’s mining.
Bitcoin went up more than 12 percent following a boom, last up to at approximately $39,400, reversing a 7.5 percent loss the day before but still down more than 40% from last month’s record high.
Musk had previously stated on May 12 that Tesla will no longer take Bitcoin owing to the mining process’s use of fossil fuels.
